In October 2006, Jason and Regina Snyder, founders of Encore Dance Center, established an Endowment Scholarship through the Maricopa Community Colleges. The Jayla Abrielle Snyder Memorial Scholarship is named after their daughter. Jayla passed away at birth on October 16, 2001 and is twin to Jaron Robert Snyder. This is the first ever endowment dance scholarship initiated through the Maricopa Community Colleges!
As you can imagine, dealing with these circumstances has not been easy; however, they have found comfort with the family environment they created at Encore. The entire Encore family has been instrumental in the healing process. Co-Owner, Jason Snyder, stated "seeing our students and their families at the studio on a daily basis has really given us the gratification and enjoyment that we would not have had otherwise." It was inevitable that Jayla would have been a dancer... After all; it was in her genetic make-up. With that being said, they decided to allow her memory to live on forever by initiating this
endowment scholarship fund in her name with the Maricopa Community Colleges Foundation (MCCF). This scholarship is a perpetual fund and allows Encore to help dance students forever! It has the potential of assisting you, your children, their children, and on, and on, and on...
You may be asking yourself, what is an endowment scholarship? The following is MCCCD's definition, cited from their website.
A permanent scholarship fund where earnings from the principal balance are used to fund scholarships. Once endowed, the principle produces permanend scholarship support on an annual basis. Earnings should accumulate for at least one year before awards are made.
Minimum amount required to endow a scholarship: $10,000.00
Donors have up to three years to reach minimum endowment level.
Basically, this scholarship is truly the gift that keeps on giving and will be around forever!
The scholarship is available to all students pursuing a dance major degree at any one of the community colleges with a dance program.
The scholarship will be providing students much more than just assistance with tuition and books. It will allow them to have the gift of an education! Your gift will...
-
Encourage student commitment to education and dedication to self-improvement.
-
Give an opportunity to students who may not have had the chance to attend college otherwise.
-
Strengthen the workforce by increasing the number of qualified individuals in the job market.
-
It will also transform the lives of recipients, enhance the lives of their families and contribute to the quality of life in our community.
Thousands of deserving students need financial support to attend and complete college. Contributions from community members like you help these students reach their education and career goals. Long after the check has been cashed, the difference you can make will extend well beyond the classroom...
If you would like to contribute to this cause, you may do so by making a check out to the Maricopa Community Colleges Foundation and include on the memo line Jayla Abrielle Snyder Memorial Scholarship. You may also send the contribution directly to the Foundation at the address listed below.
